Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas tidy and to pile up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular model has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This version is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Often more than one type of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
