How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, since the ease of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind when trying to carry out tasks which could have otherwise required working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the best choice for performing jobs from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries have to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machinery near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found near the control box or the charger, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older units would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and after that plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger could potentially take place.
