Manitou Forklifts Arkansas
Regular inspections can greatly help to lessen forklift maintenance and save you numerous amounts of money eventually. The standing joke within the business is a forklift technician coining the saying "Pay me now, or pay me later," because it normally costs more to procrastinate when it comes to lift trucks. For example, the minor fixes which are not repaired could eventually turn into costly repairs.
Tilt Cylinders
Oil leaks are a very serious concern if they are not checked. Inspect for damage or oil leaks on a regular basis. Oil leakage could result in uncontrolled mast movement and this can be extremely unsafe. Whether the leaks are inside of the cylinder or outside, the end result can result in cylinder drift and loss of vital fluid. When damage or leaks are detected, you usually would have to replace the whole cylinder assembly or the seals.
Chains
Be sure to pay attention as you don't want mast lift chains to stretch beyond acceptable limits. Look carefully for any signs of wear and tear or damage. Regularly check a chain wear gauge in order to monitor the wear. If the chain is worn beyond 2 percent or rusted, you must replace the chain. Following these tips will help keep your machine running optimally.
Mast
The mast has to be moving smoothly down and up when operating the lift control lever. Be sure to check to see if the mast is tilting forwards and backwards in a smooth way. You may have to lubricate the mast strip sliding surfaces if the sliding surfaces are binding. Also lubricate their fittings, since there is a fitting located on both sides of the inner mast. The lift bracket side rollers are one more lubrication spot.
Forks
Check the blades and look for damage, wear and cracks. It is important to remember that worn or cracked tines can possibly fail without any warning. Of course, any fork damage means taking the truck out of service immediately. If the cracks are deeper than just on the surface, they should be replaced since they really can't be safely repaired.
